What are the insurance requirements for migrant domestic workers?Employers are required to purchase medical insurance and personal accident insurance for their helpers. This cost cannot be passed on to the helper.

What is the foreign worker levy?The foreign worker levy is a pricing mechanism to regulate the number of foreigners in Singapore. Employers are required to pay the monthly levy instead of providing the Central Provident Fund (CPF) contributions. The levy ends when the work permit is cancelled or expires.

What is the Employers' Orientation Program (EOP)?The EOP is a 3 hours programme that will help employers understand their roles and responsibilities as an employer of their helper. Do note that first time hirers must complete the EOP at least 2 working days before submitting a work permit application.

What are the obligations of employers to the migrant domestic workers?As an employer of your helper, you must comply with a set of work permit conditions during their employment.

How many times are we allowed to change the migrant domestic workers?Employers are considered a Frequent Change Employer if you have changed your helper multiple times within a 12 months period. You are required to attend an Employers’ Orientation Programme (EOP) or attend an interview with MOM if you are employing your 4th helper within the 12 months period.

How can I apply for a work permit as a migrant domestic worker?You will have to meet the following requirements to be eligible for a work permit: Female 23 to below 50 years old during the work permit application (Only able to renew your work permit to 60 years old if you are 50 years old and above) From an approved source country or region Minimum 8 years of formal education with a recognised certificate

What is the Settling-In-Program (SIP)?The SIP is a 1-day orientation programme for first-time helpers to educate them on safety precautions and way of living in Singapore. The first-time helper must attend the SIP within 7 days of her arrival in Singapore, excluding Sunday and Public Holidays.
